Mercedes-Benz icons on show at Fonte Santa Hotel in Monfortinho

The Fonte Santa Hotel, in Monfortinho, has become the setting for an exhibition bringing together some of Mercedes-Benz’s most exclusive and iconic models. Running throughout April, the display features several cars that form part of the Stuttgart brand’s century-long history.

Set out in the gardens of the Fonte Santa Hotel, in the heart of central Portugal, visitors can see everything from timeless classics such as the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL and the 300 SL Roadster to modern supercars like the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.

The exhibition opened on 3 April and the launch was marked by an exclusive event: a Mercedes-AMG drive organised by dealer C. Santos VP, which brought together a number of owners of models from the Affalterbach brand.

Models for every taste: Mercedes-Benz highlights

Among the cars on show, the Mercedes-Benz 190 SL is one of the biggest attention-grabbers. Introduced in 1955, this enduring classic became known not only for its refined styling, but also for the quality of its engineering.

The 190 SL’s graceful lines are matched by the curves of the Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster, the open-top version of the legendary “Gullwing”. Although it debuted in 1957, it remains one of the most innovative models in the history of the three-pointed star, standing out for its advanced technology, independent suspension and aerodynamics that were revolutionary for the time.

Another major attraction is the SLR McLaren, a supercar born from the collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. It may not have the same decades of heritage as the 190 SL and 300 SL, but it makes up for it with a futuristic design (even though it is already more than 20 years old) and a powertrain that still commands respect: under the bonnet is a 5.4-litre V8 producing 626 hp.

Mercedes-Benz G-Class space at the exhibition

As you would expect, the exhibition also sets aside room for the G-Class, another Mercedes-Benz icon that has recently embraced full electrification. You can see it in action in this video:

However, the G-Class you will find at the Fonte Santa Hotel will be the G 63 AMG, fitted with a 4.0-litre V8 with 585 hp and an impressive 850 Nm of peak torque-figures that allow this “tank”, weighing more than 2,500 kg, to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
