Mini Countryman E exceeds 500 km range, SE All4 also updated

A minor component swap is set to make the model more appealing. The update applies to the Countryman E, as well as the SE All4 variant.

Mini has refreshed its line-up with an updated version of the Countryman - the brand’s largest SUV, available as a fully electric model since 2024. Visually and dynamically, nothing changes: the exterior design, cabin layout and driving feel remain as before. The only revision sits between the battery and the electric motor, and thanks to it, the Countryman E’s range now goes beyond 500 kilometres.

Mini Countryman E: a silicon carbide (SiC) inverter to improve efficiency

With the aim of “boosting the appeal of the range’s most versatile model”, the British firm’s engineers have replaced the inverter with a new silicon carbide (SiC) unit. Mini presents this as the key factor behind the improved range, as it “ensures highly efficient energy conversion and minimises power losses during high-demand phases”.

Same battery, but net capacity moves closer to gross capacity

Thanks to this small part, the Countryman E increases its range from 460 to 501 kilometres. Its role is to convert energy from direct current (stored in the battery) into alternating current (used by the motor). Using the new material reduces conversion losses - the very losses that help explain why a battery’s net capacity differs from its gross capacity.

As neither the battery’s overall capacity has changed nor the motor become more efficient, the impact appears on the specification sheet primarily under the battery’s net capacity. The net figure rises from 64.6 to 65.2 kWh, while gross capacity remains unchanged at 66.5 kWh.

Additional gains and launch timing for Countryman E and SE All4

Some of the extra kilometres also come from a small front-axle update, which introduces new low-friction bearings.

Whether it is the higher net capacity or the new bearings, the Mini Countryman E with 500 kilometres of range will arrive from March 2026. Mini is bringing these new parts into production immediately at the Leipzig assembly plant in Germany (BMW). The SE All4 version (all-wheel drive) is also included, with its range increasing to 467 kilometres.
