Renault Twingo electric Evolution: the new entry-level version under €20,000

With the ecological bonus rising again, Renault will be able to offer its entry-level Renault Twingo electric at a very aggressive price - lower than a petrol Renault Clio. The new base trim, "Evolution", has just appeared on the online comparison tool, so we took a closer look.

Renault’s configurator has now added a new entry-level trim for the Renault Twingo electric. After the Techno version, it is now "Evolution"’s turn - between €1,500 and €2,000 cheaper - and it even allows the brand to put forward a city car that is more affordable than its petrol Clio. The electric supermini, expected on the roads in spring, is now visible online and available to order, which makes it possible to assess the offer and potentially pay less. The Techno version, priced at €21,090, still could not drop below €20,000 unless buyers benefited from state support.

Renault Twingo electric Evolution pricing and the 2026 ecological bonus

This Renault Twingo electric in Evolution trim is therefore the version promised by the brand’s former boss, Luca de Meo. The much-talked-about Renault Twingo electric for under €20,000 actually comes in at €19,490 - a figure that could be reduced substantially thanks to the 2026 ecological bonus, between €3,620 and €5,740. Compared with last year’s thresholds, this is €1,500 higher. On its website, Renault therefore promotes a Renault Twingo electric Evolution starting from €15,870, based on a government grant of €3,620 - which is not the maximum level of support offered by the state.

On Renault’s configurator, the first thing you notice is that the electric city car comes as standard in “Mango Yellow”, with wheel trims fitted to 16-inch wheels. The side windows are not tinted, although the rear window is. Inside, the black fabric upholstery features light grey stitching. The real surprise, however, is on the dashboard: a 10.1-inch openR Link touchscreen.

That said, it only comes with 2 speakers (rather than 6) and there is no reversing camera - just a basic assistance system with audible and visual warnings. There is also no built-in navigation, so you will need to rely on CarPlay or Android Auto.

Motor, battery and charging on the Renault Twingo electric Evolution

On the technical side, the Renault Twingo electric Evolution uses the same 80 hp motor as the Techno version, so there is no difference there. The battery is identical too: a small 27.5 kWh pack, delivering a range of around 260 km. DC rapid charging is not available as standard, meaning you have to make do with 6.6 kW AC charging.

It seems adding rapid charging as standard would have been too expensive for Renault to keep the price under €20,000. As a result, it is only offered as an option via a pack (which includes 50 kW DC rapid charging, 11 kW AC charging, and bidirectional V2L/V2G charging).

Packs and options for the Renault Twingo electric Evolution

To get that option, you need to look at the additional packs offered on the Renault Twingo electric Evolution. The "Advanced Charge" pack for rapid charging costs €500. A domestic charging cable (Mode 2, 6.5 m) costs €400.

Most of the remaining items are accessories, derived from Dacia’s YouClip range: a cup holder (€25), a lamp (€30), a hook (€15), or a centre armrest with storage for €230. The boot cover is also charged separately, at €75. It is also worth noting that you cannot add the heated front seats option for €300, as it is only available on the Techno version of the Renault Twingo.
