Cyberpandino: a 2003 FIAT Panda for the Mongol Rally 2025 with Panda OS

"A journey without rules, without limits and without meaning." That is the first line you see when you try to find out more about this project, centred on a 2003 FIAT Panda.

Cyberpandino: a 2003 FIAT Panda running Panda OS

Matteo and Roberto are two software developers with no hands-on experience of mechanics, yet they have taken on something either hugely ambitious-or utterly mad: entering the Mongol Rally 2025 in a… Cyberpandino.

That nickname belongs to what could be the most tech-heavy FIAT Panda ever built, powered by an operating system called Panda OS-which is expected to be released for free in the future.

It features a huge, Tesla-style central touchscreen control display, plus a fully digital instrument cluster.

From Prague to Oskemen, Kazakhstan: 10 909 km

On 12 July, the Cyberpandino is due to roll into Prague, and the following day it should be ready for the Mongol Rally 2025 start.

If everything goes to plan-and with a bit of luck thrown in-the finish in Oskemen, somewhere in Kazakhstan, 10 909 km away, should come towards the end of August. In theory.

The Mongol Rally 2025 rules: under 1300 cm³ and "Global-scale motoring stupidity"

The organisers describe the event as "Global-scale motoring stupidity", and the chosen car has to be a banger with an engine under 1300 cm³. What could possibly go wrong with the Cyberpandino?
