Fuel prices are expected to remain virtually unchanged next week, starting on 15 September, with no indication of any swings.
According to forecasts from the sector, neither the price of standard diesel nor the price of standard petrol is expected to move (source: ACP).
From next Monday (15 September), the average price of standard diesel is therefore expected to stand at 1,564 €/l, while standard petrol should hold steady at 1,71 €/l.
Forecast for standard diesel and standard petrol from 15 September
These figures are based on fuel price calculations that use the values published by the Directorate-General for Energy and Geology (DGEG) - in this case, the data released last Thursday, 11 September.
The DGEG values already reflect the discounts applied by fuel retailers, as well as the Government measures currently in place.
How to interpret the DGEG average fuel prices
Even so, it is important to underline that these are not necessarily the prices you will see at the pump. They are average, indicative figures, and retailers are free to set the prices they consider appropriate.
Government measures currently in force
The Government measures introduced in 2022 to cushion the rise in fuel prices remain in place, focusing mainly on the amount of ISP.
This year, the ISP increased by three cents per litre, but because the carbon tax rate fell, the overall tax burden on fuels did not change.
As a result, the combined total of all “tax discounts” amounts to 17,6 cents less per litre for diesel and 19,2 cents per litre for petrol.
